Privacy policy
Last updated 10 August 2026
This site sets no cookies, has no accounts, and collects no personal information about you. That is the short version, and the rest of this page mostly explains the few edges where other companies are involved.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you. There is no login, no account, no advertising network, and no tracking cookie.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which articles get read. It is deliberately chosen because it is cookieless: it records aggregate counts — page views, approximate country, device type, and which site referred you — and does not build a profile of you, follow you between sites, or store data that can identify you. That is also why you have not been asked to accept cookies: there are none to accept.
Server logs
This site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes technical information such as IP addresses in order to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We do not have access to those logs as a way of identifying individual readers, and we do not use them for analytics. Vercel's handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policy.
Amazon affiliate links
Our review pages link to Amazon as an Amazon Associate — see the full affiliate disclosure for how that works and how it affects our content.
This is the one place where a cookie may be set, and it is worth being precise about it: we don't set it, Amazon does. When you click through to Amazon, Amazon may place a cookie so that any purchase you make is credited to us. That happens on Amazon's site, under Amazon's privacy policy, and we never see who you are — commission reports show us that a sale happened, not who made it. If you would rather avoid it, visit Amazon directly instead of using our links.
If you email us
Messages to hello@microplasticdefense.com are received in an ordinary email inbox. We keep them so we can reply and so we have a record of corrections readers have sent us. We don't add you to any list, and we don't pass your address to anyone.
The newsletter box
The signup box on the homepage is not connected to anything yet. It says so on the box itself, and it is accurate: entering an address there does not store it or send it anywhere. If that ever changes, this page will change with it.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, children included.
Your rights
Privacy law in the EU, the UK, and California gives you rights to access, correct, and delete personal data held about you. We mention this for completeness rather than because it is likely to come up: we hold no personal data on readers, so in almost every case there is nothing to access or delete. The exception is if you have emailed us — write to the address above and we will delete the correspondence on request.
Changes to this policy
If what we collect changes, this page changes and the date at the top is updated. We won't quietly start tracking you and leave this text as it was.
